here is exactly what i have been complaining about on air for some time now…..i get to work…and just like you i check the headlines to see what is going on in the world….so here is a screenshot from cnn.com…..and as you can see, amidst all of the major headlines….amy “crazy lady” winehouse actually has TWO of the top headlines….i have never in my life seen a one hit wonder get so much press….let’s face it….she has ONE radio hit…and although it was ok, it was not some great smash…hell, the macarena got more radio time than rehab….when was the last time you saw an artist with so little contribution to the music world get so much damn publicity….where are all the headlines about other one hit wonders who had a mediocre hit….like thomas dolby, kajagoogoo, chris daughtry…oh wait…he has more than one…they all just sound the same…anyway

amy winehouse has the best PR department i have ever seen….

if i see one more headline about this woman, the next headline will read:

Smalltown DJ strangles Winehouse with bare hands

or, perhaps:

Smart DJ throws crackpipe in ocean…Winehouse drowns.

i just want to share an email i got from out winner of the g1013 johnson chiropractic summer concert series…..lisa won tickets to see the sold out dave matthew show last friday….here is the email i got from her…

Dave,     I wanted to take a second to thank everyone at G101.3 for the great time we had at the concert Friday night! The Limo ride was totally awesome, and Dave Matthews put on an excellent show! And as if winning the tickets and the limo ride wasn’t enough, while we were waiting in line to get in to the concert, some very nice young men asked us if we would like to trade our lawn tickets for their VERY good Pavillion seats! They were going to party with their friends on the lawn and didn’t want their good seats to go to waste. I don’t know why they picked us to trade with, other than our advanced age made us look like maybe we would be better off SITTING down! LOL   Thank you again for a WONDERFUL experience!!   Lisa

My parents are HUGE fans of Food Network Star Paula Deen. They get a kick out of her down home attitude and recipes. However, since my parents aren’t exactly what you’d call “young” I keep telling them to watch and enjoy but DON’T EAT THE FOOD. Why? Here’s one of Paula’s recipes that comes with a free E.K.G.

1 1/2 pounds ground beef 3 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley leaves 2 tablespoons grated onion House Seasoning, recipe follows 2 tablespoons butter 3 eggs 6 slices bacon cooked, 6 glazed donuts

Mix the ground beef, chopped parsley and grated onion together in a large mixing bowl. Season liberally, with House Seasoning. Form 3 hamburger patties.Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Add the burgers and cook until desired temperature, 4 to 5 minutes per side for medium-rare.

Fry bacon in a hot pan until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels. Set aside.

While burgers are cooking, heat a non-stick pan, over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons butter. Crack 3 eggs into the pan. Cook until the yolks are just set and still slightly runny and remove.

Place burger patties on glazed donuts as the buns. Top each burger with 2 pieces of bacon and a fried egg.

A hamburger with a fried egg, bacon and a freakin’ Krispy Kreme as the bun!! Seriously?!?! I’m getting chest pains just typing it! I’m not saying you should eat all healthy, all the time (wheatgerm, rice, wicker furniture, etc.) but you don’t have to eat like a goat! Stop the madness, Paula!!

Everyone’s favorite A.I. judge (alright the favorite former singer/dancer judge) is flamboyant, emotional and extra nuts. If you missed her appearance on QVC with her jewelry collection now you can enjoy the insanity that is Paula Abdul.

On the fourth day of July the whole G101.3 crew was working at Glen Miller Park or back in the station to make sure Freedom Jam 2008 went off without a hitch. A lot of planning was put into the Freedom Jam festivities and a lot of hard work was necessary to make it happen. Despite the rainy weather we had a fantastic turnout for the Freedom Jam 5K run/walk, enjoyed fabulous live music provided by five local bands and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and then the “hill” was full at dark for the fantastic fireworks display, thanks to The American Legion-Harry Ray Post 65. All in all it was a success and a GREAT time!!!! Thanks so much to all who helped, volunteered their time, and donated money to the fireworks fund!
